Pre-Sailing Skills Sessions at West Wight Sports & Community Centre
Children must be 6 years old and over and able to swim a width (13 metres) unaided.
These sessions are suitable for complete beginners/nervous sailors or those who need to gain confidence in a boat or just remind themselves how to do things. We cover swimming in a buoyancy aid, rigging, capsize drill, bailing, paddling, balance, how to be rescued safely, boat parts and fun steering races.
The sessions are led by qualified dinghy instructors.
Dates: There are no further dates planned for this season.
Times: 9.00 – 11.00 a.m.
Cost: £20 per session.
Booking: It is essential to book in advance by ringing 01983 752168 or by person at reception. Places are limited so book early.
Children should wear an old t-shirt (and shorts for girls) over swimmers or a wetsuit in the water and bring a buoyancy aid if they have one (there are some available to borrow if not). No goggles required.
Parents are welcome to stay but can only leave a child in this session if they are 8 and over.
