Pre-Sailing Skills Sessions at West Wight Sports & Community Centre
Children must be 7 years old and over and able to swim 25 metres.
These sessions are suitable for complete beginners/nervous sailors or those that need to gain confidence in a boat or just remind themselves how to rig and right a boat after a capsize. They learn about steering and balance in a fun way.
The sessions are led by qualified dinghy instructors.
Dates: At present there are no more sessions planned. Sessions will be laid on depending on demand.
Times: 9.00 – 11.00 a.m.
Cost: £20 per session.
Booking: It is essential to book in advance by ringing 01983 752168 or by person at reception. Places are limited so book early.
Children should wear t-shirt and shorts over swimmers or a wetsuit in the water and bring a buoyancy aid if they have one (there are some available to borrow if not).
Parents are welcome to stay but can only leave a child in this session if they are 8 and over.
Activities include swimming in a buoyancy aid, rigging, capsize drill, bailing, praddling, how to be rescued safely, balance and fun steering races.
