YSC Cruising Section to Warsash Sailing Club - Thursday 14th July 2022

The sun shone and the wind blew the forecast was N/NW 3 to 5, good sailing weather. It was necessary to decide the departure time as the sailing boats needed to get to the North Thorn channel before the direction of the current changed from an easterly direction to westerly around 11:36. - the first boat starting at 08:00. All four yachts raced along at 6 to 9 knots and our only motor boat at least double that speed.
On arrival their mooring lines were ably taken by staff of the Hamble Harbourmaster's office as boats were manoeuvred into a planned position where possible against a strong current.
As the last boats arrived we all walked to the Warsash S.C. and were shown to a room where it was planned to eat our meal. We ate a good meal with the occasional hitch when some had to wait a bit for their meal. While waiting people chatted, joked and laughed and afterwards listened to brief speeches, clapping and heckling which kept the tone light.
Finally the crews dispersed to their boats, sailing with a calming wind interspersed with a few strong gusts, pleased with their sailing and socialising a very enjoyable day out on the Solent.
