The 45th Scows Week Celebration including 25 years of the GRP Scows

Scows Week was started in 1978 by the late George Coulson and Gerald Smith and it was for wooden Scows (they were the only ones in those days). In 1998, GRP Scows had their first Scows Week.
To celebrate, there was a small exhibition of the History of Scows Week, covering both equally, Wooden Scows and GRP Scows.
There was a fantastic and delicious American style lunch, provided by past and current Scow sailors. Attending were past WWSC Captains, Chris Jones and Tony Russell and current YSC GRP Captain Niall Wallace.
The centrepiece was a beautiful cake with a fondant Scow model; the flags of the WWSC, GRP and YSC were equally represented as all have successfully integrated in the success of Scows Week. Thus the cake was cut by Commodore Martin Palmer, top former WWSC scow sailor Melinda Measor and GRP Captain Niall Wallace.
