Beach Clean at Freshwater Bay
Published 09:03 on 22 May 2022
The sun shone again for our latest YSC beach clean; this time at Freshwater Bay. Whilst the overall tally of rubbish that we picked up (57 pounds or 25.85 kilo's) was slightly less impressive than we are used to collecting, what was truly impressive was how organised Freshwater Bay residents are. We discovered that they have on the promenade, just in front of the beach shelter, a permanent collection of carrier bags and litter pickers, for people to beach clean at any time. This is clearly really effective, as we picked up less than we expected to. We were joined by Jo and Katie Murray Smith who found an old lobster pot, and heroically lugged it back to the collection point. And we were also joined by some very energetic and motivated local children who joined in, and helped contribute to our overall tally.
Thank you once again to everyone who came - your time is very much appreciated, and thank you for helping keep our beautiful coastline clean.
With all best wishes,
