A massive thank you to everyone who joined in the YSC Beach clean on 13 November. Over 20 friends and members of YSC turned up enthusiastically to help pick up litter from Fort Victoria beach, the inland wooded area, and the road which leads up to it. A huge amount of plastic, wire, and metal tubing was picked up, as well as a pair of old boots! This came to just over 40kgs (89lbs!) This will make a huge difference to our marine environment and the local area from which we all benefit so much. With COP 26 drawing to a close, and global leaders making international decisions about climate change, it can sometimes feel overwhelming knowing what individuals can do. But we know that Nature was high on the Agenda at COP 26, so removing plastic from the Solent, and our local environment to give it room to breathe, will make a big difference. We know that many YSC members regularly pick litter up too, not just at the official beach cleans, so thank you so much for all your contributions.
The next beach clean, if you are free to join us, is at Colwell Bay on Sat 11 December, from 10am-12pm.
