Yarmouth Sailing Club sits next to the swing bridge over the River Yar at the western end of the Isle of Wight.  It's a friendly, un-stuffy club with around 800 members run entirely on a volunteer basis.  A welcome is always extended to visiting yachtsmen.

There is a very active sailing membership keenly contesting weekly racing for plastic (GRP) and wooden Scows, Optimists and Handicap Class (Pico, Topper, Mirror, etc).  Races take place both in the river and in the Solent and, weather permitting, we run annual passage races to Hurst Castle and Newtown River. There is also a regular programme of 'quiet sails' for those who enjoy sailing in a less competitive atmosphere.

Members may hire club sailing boats - we have a scow, 3 Picos, and 6 training Oppies for children - at a cost of £5 per session per boat.

There is Optimist training for the children of members in the May half-term, in “Oppie Week” (in the summer holidays), and during the winter months.  There is also a programme of events for juniors throughout the sailing season.

Other events include an annual 2-day Regatta, disability sailing, open evening, Scows Week and Junior Regatta.

A varied programme of winter social events is under preparation.

The bar, run by members, is open for lunch on Sundays throughout the year, and is open on Saturday evenings when there is an event.  It is also often open following sailing events.

If you'd like to join the club, come along and ask for a form or download one from this website.
