Yarmouth Sailing Club sits next to the swing bridge over the River Yar at the western end of the Isle of Wight.  It's a friendly, un-stuffy club with around 800 members run entirely on a volunteer basis.  A welcome is always extended to visiting yachtsmen.

There is a very active sailing membership keenly contesting weekly racing for plastic (GRP) and wooden Scows, Optimists and Handicap Class (Pico, Topper, Mirror etc).  Races take place both in the river and in the Solent and, weather permitting, annual passage races to Hurst Castle and Newtown River. There's also a regular programme of 'quiet sails' for those who enjoy sailing in a less competitive atmosphere.

There is Optimist training for the children of members at the Spring Half Term and during the Summer Holidays, and a programme of events for juniors throughout the year.

Other events include Disability sailing, Open Day, Scows Week and Junior Regatta.

A varied programme of winter events is arranged.

The bar, run by members, is open for lunch on Sundays throughout the year, and is open on Saturday evenings when there is an event.  It is also often open following sailing events.

If you'd like to join the club, come along and ask for a form or download one from this website.
